The Challenge
$250k-$1.2M industrial equipment manufacturer with a 8.1s mobile load time, no e-commerce, no product configurator, no dealer-locator, and a 1.2% contact-form conversion. International customers waited 3-5 days for shipping quotes.

Migrated to managed WooCommerce hosting with Cloudflare. Built a custom 4-family product configurator, freight API integration for 38-country shipping estimates, dealer-locator with geocoding, and HubSpot CRM with lead scoring. Background
Hog Technologies is a Florida-based equipment manufacturer specializing in road maintenance and runway rubber removal machinery. They sell high-ticket capital equipment ($250k-$1.2M per unit) to airports, state DOTs, federal agencies, and large contractors in 38 countries. Their previous digital presence was a static brochure site with no e-commerce, no quote workflow, and no way for international customers to evaluate configurations before requesting a quote.
The Challenge
The Hog team was losing deals because their site didn’t communicate technical specifications clearly, didn’t support international customers (no shipping calculator, no currency conversion, no dealer-locator), and had no way to capture qualified leads beyond a generic contact form. The previous site took 8 seconds to load on mobile. Their competitor (a German manufacturer with a much better site) was winning deals in the same sales cycle.
Specific pain points
- Site loaded in 8.1 seconds on mobile, 4.3 seconds on desktop
- No product configurator — every spec sheet was a 12-page PDF
- International customers had to email for shipping quotes, adding 3-5 days to the sales cycle
- No dealer-locator despite having 22 dealers globally
- Generic contact form converting at 1.2% (industry baseline for industrial: 4-6%)
- Sales team wasting time on unqualified leads — no lead scoring, no MQL/SQL definition
Our Strategy
We built an enterprise B2B e-commerce platform on WooCommerce with custom product configurators, international shipping logic, dealer-locator, and a HubSpot CRM integration for lead scoring. The site sits on managed hosting tuned for WooCommerce performance with a CDN in front, server-side caching, and image optimization.
Phase 1: Infrastructure Rebuild (Weeks 1-3)
Migrated from a shared VPS to managed WooCommerce hosting with dedicated resources. Set up Cloudflare Pro as CDN + WAF with image optimization and mobile routing. Implemented server-side full-page caching. Page load dropped from 8.1s to 1.9s on mobile. Set up 4 staging environments (dev, staging, pre-production, production) and a CI/CD pipeline.
Phase 2: E-commerce Architecture (Weeks 4-10)
Built a custom product configurator that lets customers select machine type, working width, engine, attachments, and export configuration as a PDF spec sheet they can share internally. Configured WooCommerce with role-based pricing (dealer, government, airport, contractor tiers). Integrated with a freight API for international shipping estimates. Built a dealer-locator with geocoding, territory mapping, and dealer-specific contact forms.
Phase 3: Lead Generation + CRM (Weeks 11-14)
Replaced the generic contact form with 4 contextual lead-capture forms: product inquiry, dealer application, parts request, and service inquiry. Each form feeds HubSpot CRM with lead scoring rules (company size, budget, timeline, country). Sales team gets notified on MQLs only. Configured Mautic for nurture sequences (3-email series for cold leads, 5-email series for warm leads).
Results (14 months post-launch)
- Site speed: 1.9s average mobile load (vs. 8.1s), PageSpeed Insights 88/100 mobile
- Lead conversion: 5.4% form conversion (vs. 1.2%) — 4.5x lift
- MQL volume: 247 marketing-qualified leads in 14 months (vs. 89 in the prior 14 months)
- Sales cycle: 11 days shorter on average due to configurator self-service + international shipping estimates
- International sales: 38% of new opportunities now come from international markets (vs. 18% previously)
- Hosting stability: 99.99% uptime in 14 months — zero outages during 4 peak sales events
- Pipeline value: $14.2M in qualified opportunities created through the new site in 14 months

Why It Worked
Hog’s previous site was built around the assumption that every deal required a sales call. By building self-service tools — the configurator, the international shipping calculator, the dealer-locator — we let customers do their own research and only engage sales when they’re genuinely ready. This filtered out 60% of the unqualified leads that were eating the sales team’s time, while creating a 4.5x lift in qualified leads overall.
The hosting decision again was foundational: WooCommerce is heavy, and a $250k+ configurator with image galleries would have melted a shared VPS. Managed hosting with proper caching and CDN let us ship a site that feels instant even on cellular connections in rural job sites.
Ongoing engagement: 24/7 hosting management, monthly feature releases, quarterly CRO testing, and a retainer relationship with their sales team to align the site with their go-to-market motion.
"We were losing deals to a competitor with a much better website. 5 Kings rebuilt our entire digital presence in 14 weeks and we've added $14M in qualified pipeline since launch. The configurator alone shortens our sales cycle by 11 days."— Jim Barrett, VP Sales, Hog Technologies, Hog Technologies
